Do you remember the suggestion that Twitter should receive a Nobel Prize for "contribution" to the Iranian Revolution? As insane as it sounds there are many occasions when I feel people tend to associate super-human or even just human characteristics to entities that really are tools. Today I was putting together my thoughts about the real value of on-line interactions in the initial part of my book and all those examples of crazy reactions to the web came back. Sometimes we are so amazed by the power of on-line connections or so terrified by the risks involved in our on-line presence that we overlook the real meaning of events. I think this notion can also be subjective so I would love to hear from you - when did you feel that people overreact and instead of focusing on actual facts, people, events talk about platforms and social tools?
