I am writing a book about on-line reputation and how web changes our personal path and our life. Help me by sharing your story through my contact page.
I will only share your stories with my readers with your permission. I can also keep your story just for myself, for inspiration. Thank you!
It happens here, in this country too, so do not ignore the signs and do interfere if you see your friend is suffering from it! Numbers prove the point but it's down to each of us to act.
I discuss important issues with my son recently. We talked about god ("nah, does not exist" - he said), we talked about the web ("place to learn more about the stars" - he said) and today we have talked about dreams. When I asked him what he would like to do when he grows up "Apple developer" - he said. "I want to work with computers, like you and Dan" - he said.
It was cute but also made me think about my own dreams. When I was his age I wanted to be...an activist. I was as precise as he is today - I wanted to volunteer for Greenpeace. The moment I said to my son "You can be whoever you wish to be!" it occurred to me that actually becoming a Greenpeace volunteer is really not so hard! With the beauty of Internet it really took me few minutes! I have been watching Greenpeace, writing about their social media, discussing their brand identity with friends who happen to do the same with the NGO's leadership, I supported Greenpeace financially. I took active part in their on-line campaigns, but I think it's time to combine it all with my dreams - I have joined the Oxford group today. It's perfect timing considering the news on progress of Shell campaign really upsets me.
So this is just a kind word of warning to my readers - I will do my best not to overdo it, but I am sure you will hear of Greenpeace a bit more on this blog from now on. For a start, here is what Greenpeace is working on at the moment - a long video, but a good, worth to watch documentary.
...is a brilliant case study of how simple social media tool (in this case Storify), good idea (combining the off-line with on-line, playing on the popularity of visualisations!) and simple but effective execution can make you think!
